Start research on the train, finish it at your desk. Because saved sessions live in your account, you can reopen a whole window of tabs on whichever device you're on next.

  1. 1Save your open tabs as a session with /save
  2. 2Switch to another computer and open GoToTab
  3. 3Find the session in your collections

Find a tab you closed on another computer

Searching your own browser history is free and works on every device on its own. What Pro adds is reach: GoToTab keeps a private record of the tabs you close, in your account, so a tab you closed on your laptop is findable from your desktop.

  1. 1History search is on by default — it reads this browser's history locally
  2. 2Go Pro and GoToTab also records the tabs you close, in your account
  3. 3Search from any device and closed tabs from your other machines appear too
  4. 4Reopen the exact page, even one you closed on a different computer

Questions about cross-device sync

Install GoToTab, sign in with the same account on each device, and go Pro. Your collections, saved sessions, and closed-tab history sync to your account automatically, so the same tabs are available on every computer you use.

Yes. Save your open tabs as a session, then open GoToTab on your other computer and reopen that session in one click. It's the simplest way to continue browsing on another device without emailing yourself links.

No — and it's worth being precise here. Two different things are involved. History search reads your browser's own history on the device you're using, to include it in your search results; that data never leaves your machine and never reaches us. Separately, Pro records the tabs you close (title, URL, close time) in your account so you can search and reopen them from another device. That record is a focused log of tabs you had open, not a mirror of your entire browsing history.

Your synced data lives in your own account and is only used to serve your own searches and reopens. Recording the tabs you close is a Pro feature you can switch off with the "Save closed tabs" toggle, and you can clear what's stored at any time from Settings or your account page. Local history search is separate and never transmitted. See the privacy policy for details.

For syncing, yes — that's what Pro is. Searching your history, unlimited collections, tab search, switching, groups and slash commands are all free and run locally without an account. Pro ($4/month) puts your collections and closed tabs in your account so they reach every device.

GoToTab runs on Chrome, Firefox, and other Chromium-based browsers, so sync works across any computers where you run one of them with GoToTab installed and signed in.

Stop hunting for that one tab.

Install GoToTab free and switch to any tab, save any session, and search your whole history, all from the keyboard.
